Dickinson County 911 Dispatch, National Child Safety Council pair up to educate county residents

Dickinson County’s Emergency Communications Center, also known as 911 Dispatch, is pairing up with the National Child Safety Council to help coordinate the county’s annual Child Safety, Bullying and Drug Education program. 

New equipment will make building bridges safer, save certification costs

The Dickinson County Road and Bridge Department has a new piece of equipment that will drastically shorten the time needed to drive steel posts into bedrock, making the bridge building process safer for employees and eliminating the astronomical cost associated with certifying crane operators.

Proposal would bring childcare centers to Herington, Solomon

Dickinson County plans to use funds it received from the American Rescue Plan Act, working in conjunction with the Community Foundation of Dickinson County, USD 393 and USD 487 to build childcare facilities on school district property in Solomon and Herington.

Fake tornado, real tension

The disaster may have been fictional, but the tension in the air was real as emergency management professionals joined Abilene city and Dickinson County leaders for a disaster exercise Monday through Wednesday, June 6 to 8.

8th Judicial District will observe Juneteenth holiday

Dickinson County District Court and the 8 th Judicial District will be closed Monday, June 20 in
recognition of the Juneteenth federal holiday.
Dickinson County District Court and the 8 th Judicial District will be closed Monday, June 20 in
recognition of the Juneteenth federal holiday.
All district court offices will be closed, including the courts, court services, community corrections,
district court trustee and CASA (court appointed special advocates).
The Dickinson County Courthouse and county offices will remain open.
