First time since 2001 full team qualifies

The Chapman boys team qualified for the state cross country meet by placing third in the stacked Topeka West 4A regional meet on Saturday. The Irish were predicted to place fifth as a team but came ready to run. The team is led by Drew Elliott, Sophomore, who has placed in the top five in all the cross country meets this year, including placing fourth at Saturday’s regional with a time of 16:31.
It has been 21 years since a Chapman boys cross country team has qualified for the state meet. They haven’t been to state as a team since 2001. Elliott was the sole qualifier as a freshman last year and placed 13th at the state championship.
The team members are Drew Elliott, Darren Klukas, Dereck Klukas, Chris Falls, Taryn Hoffman, Raymond Johnson and Kaden Hitz.
